I have it set at the same speed but it is more precise to my movements. I bought the new g5 laser mouse and was dissapointed. I used an MX510 for awhile and wanted an upgrade. Not only that, but they improved the sliders. Laser technology feels different and didn't seem to work as well. This mx518 is basically the same as my mx510 but has twice the dpi resolution. They are larger so they slide better and they don't wear down as fast. My mx510 sliders were pretty much worn through.
I love the extra button options and the ability to speed the cursor up or down.Gaming with it has been great. Why the 5 stars if it died on me. My MX 518 recently died after 3 years of hard core use. I play a lot of First Person shooters and this mouse flat out performs. Because I use my PC all the time and can be hard on my equipment so I tend to get the best. This mouse as far as I am concerned is the best corded mouse on the market. The response time is great, the controls have a nice natural flow to them and the overall size is just right. Until it started to die recently, I never had any issues with it.I have had several other laser mouses over the years but this is by far the best. Now that my baby is gone, I have another one on the way which is about the best recommendation I can give.
and they are all fully customizable. it doesn't have some of the fancier features of its big brother the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (Blue/Black) who has a customizable wight tray. The Logitech MX 518 High Performance Optical Gaming Mouse (Metal)is the best mouse I've ever used. the on the fly sensitivity switching works well, and is also fully programmable with the included, but not necessary software(you can still use the sensitivity switching without the software). but this mouse is the smoothest mouse i've used, with it's plethora of buttons. which I especially like the forward and backwards buttons for browsing through windows. this is by far the best mouse you'll ever get. you won't regret it.
It's a great mouse. I like the design, moves very smoothly, has buttons in the right location and let's you choose different dpis on just a click.Good cost vs value.I could use more buttons but you can't have it all, hehe.
My son is a semi professional gamer and this is his second Logitech Mx 518 mouse. In his opinion it is one of the very best and is very reasonably priced. The first one held up extremely well and was used over 8 hours a day. It is tough and durable and a very good buy.
